Veolia will be given credit to manage water treatment and distribution in Tashkent city for 25 years

French Company Veolia will manage water production and distribution facilities and wastewater treatment in Tashkent city for 25 years.

Uzbekistan and French Veolia Environnement signed an agreement on modernization of drinking water production and distribution, as well as wastewater treatment in Tashkent. The document was signed during the official visit of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to France.

As has been noted in the company`s press release, Veolia and Uzbekistan will jointly discuss details of the affirmage agreement on drinking water supply and sanitation, which will come in force in the first half of 2019. The total turnover is expected to be Euro 1.5 billion.

Reference: The affirmage is usually used for operation of utility infrastructure facilities (for example, energy supply and water supply), with the legal responsibility for providing services borne by a company that receives water payments and is responsible for risks associated with the equipment operation.

The French company will take over water supply and water treatment facilities for 25 years, and will develop and improve water supply networks, as well as monitor investments in modernization of water supply networks in Tashkent.

As Mr. Antoine Frerot, Veolia Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, said: “This agreement will allow to implement the best practices of Veolia and international know-how in the field of management and optimization of large water supply networks. I am glad that Uzbekistan and its President Shavkat Mirziyoyev have selected Veolia and our staff as a partner to help in providing residents with quality water”.

Veolia Environnement is a French multi-purpose company specializing in four areas of activity: Water supply and treatment, public utilities, including solid waste collection and disposal, energy and transportation services, including airport maintenance, rail traffic management and urban public transport.
