What has changed in the water supply system?

With the adoption of the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated August 19, 2024 "On Amendments and Additions to Certain Resolutions of the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Connection with the Improvement of the Drinking Water Supply and Sanitation System", some legislative acts in the area of drinking water and sanitation have been revised.

This was reported at a briefing organized by JSC "Uzsuvtaminot".

It is noted that, according to the established standards, the consumer is responsible for the safety, completeness of water meters and the integrity of seals. Now, in cases where cold water meters of newly built apartment buildings are installed outside apartments (stairs, basements, etc.), responsibility for them lies with the supplying company. If consumers of group I have made advance payments for utilities for a period of no more than 2 months, they are exempt from additional payments associated with changes in tariffs. According to the previous resolution, this period was 12 months (1 year).

In accordance with the supplement to the Procedure for the development of design and estimate documentation for the construction and reconstruction of water supply and sanitation facilities, these facilities will now be implemented at the expense of the State Budget and will be subject to mandatory examination by the State Unitary Enterprise "Center for Comprehensive Expertise of Projects and Import Contracts".

At the same time, proposals for investment projects in the field of drinking water supply and sanitation will be discussed by deputies of authorized local government bodies together with representatives of territorial water supply organizations and activists of settlements with on-site visits, and submitted for discussion to the Jokargy Kenes of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, regional and Tashkent city Kengashes of people's deputies. The resolution provides for an increase in the deadlines for the implementation of investment projects implemented at the expense of loans received from foreign banks.
