The region`s first open switchgear with a voltage of 500 kV is being built at the Navoi Thermal Power Plant
The construction of a large open switchgear with a voltage of 500 kV began at the Navoi Thermal Power Plant - the first such structure in the region. The Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan reports this.
The facility is being built as part of an investment project for the construction of a third combined-cycle plant at the station.
The new switchgear will play a key role in transmitting high voltage power and ensuring the stability of the entire power system. Construction work is being carried out at an accelerated pace.
The implementation of the project fits into the large-scale modernization program of the Uzbek energy sector: a number of modern energy-efficient thermal power plants, capable of generating more electricity with less fuel consumption, are simultaneously being built in the country.
This is especially true against the backdrop of growing consumption - this year, due to economic recovery and expansion of industrial production, additional demand for electricity in the amount of 1 billion kWh is expected.
