Shvabe to Provide Uzbekistan with Drinking Water

Shvabe, the holding company within Rostec State Corporation, has set up the production of automated high-performance water treatment systems in the Jizzakh Region of Uzbekistan. Those systems are designed to cope with the shortage of drinking water in the region.

At the manufacturing plant, there has been set up the production of MS-1000 purification systems using the technology of oxidation of impurities with sodium hypochlorite. The system is capable of providing 100 people with purified water at a consumption rate of 250 litres per person per day.

In accordance with the development plan, the product line will be further supplemented by systems designed to provide from 100 to 400 people with potable water. In Uzbekistan, in particular, MO-140L water purification system with the capacity of 140 litres per hour will be produced, which has been developed specifically for flow-line production and differs from its analogues in its lower price and lower energy consumption.

“The rapid growth of population and climate change pose a problem of drinking water shortage for Uzbekistan and other Central Asian countries. The water treatment systems are multipurpose: they can be used both industrially and for residential sector: in private houses or multistorey apartment buildings. After passing through several stages of treatment, at the end of the process, the water appears fully complying with sanitary standards. This kind of technology developed by our company attracts a lot of attention not only in Central Asia but also globally, in particular, in China and the Middle East,” said Victor Kladov, Regional Director for International Cooperation & Policy at Rostec Corporation.

Water treatment systems purify water from salts, organic substances and heavy metals; they disinfect water by killing bacteria and viruses and they also deactivate radioactive substances thus making the water potable.

According to news.rambler.ru, the manufacture is organised on the premises of the joint venture of M.F. Stelmakh Polyus Research Institute, the member of Shvabe Holding, and Digital Trust Fund of Uzbekistan. As provided by this production cooperation, Polyus Research Institute provides the joint venture with high-tech products, in particular, control units, digital dosing pumps, and power generating units to control high pressure pumps.

According to Rambler, the demand for such equipment is quite high in Uzbekistan, and the market will be saturated not sooner than after several years of production. “The manufacture of the equipment has already been started. By the end of 2020, we plan to produce over 300 water treatment systems of various models,” said Evgeny Kuznetsov, Director General of Polyus Research Institute.

The project was initiated at the beginning of the year during the visit of Rostec delegation to Uzbekistan and approved by the country’s leadership.
