Air purifiers in Uzbekistan are exempt from duties
In Uzbekistan, household air purifiers are exempt from customs duties (previously the rate was 20%, but not less than $3). The decision was made against the backdrop of deteriorating air quality in Tashkent and growing demand for such devices. Monitoring stations and dust and gas treatment plants are also exempt from duties.
Uzbekistan has expanded the list of environmental equipment, the import of which is exempt from customs duties. This is provided for by the decree of the President of Uzbekistan on urgent measures to improve the environmental situation in the capital dated November 25.
According to the document, the following are exempt from customs duties upon import:
equipment and instruments for specialized environmental laboratories (TN VED 9027);
automated small monitoring stations (TN VED 9027);
automatic emission control stations (HS 9027);
automatic observation posts (HS 9027);
dust and gas treatment plants (TN VED 8421);
local water treatment facilities (HS 8421);
household air purifiers imported by citizens and entrepreneurs (HS 8509 80).
The exemption from duties should make household cleaners more affordable and accessible against the backdrop of a deteriorating environmental situation in Tashkent and other cities. Today, when importing purifiers, a duty is set at 20%, but not less than $3 per piece. At the same time, equipment for monitoring air quality and dust and gas purification plants (HS 9027 and 8421) today are not subject to duties.
However, humidifiers are not included in the list.
In a conversation with Gazeta, the Asaxiy online store reported that since the beginning of November, the demand for air purifiers in Uzbekistan has been rapidly increasing. According to the company, sales increased 3-4 times. Due to the hype, many popular models, including Xiaomi and some Philips lines, were in short supply. New deliveries are expected only in the second half of December. Due to high demand and shortage of devices, prices have risen sharply.
Gazeta previously reported that the import of household air purifiers to Uzbekistan has shown strong growth in recent years. If in 2022 about 2,000 devices were imported into the country, in 2024 - over 16 thousand, and in less than 2025 - more than 18 thousand.
