For the first time, 34 thousand residents of the Namangan region will be provided with centralized drinking water supply

703 billion soums have been allocated to improve drinking water supply and sewerage in the Namangan region in 2026. About thisit was saidOn June 23, at the situational center of the region, where the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev heard reports from those in charge.

The allocated funds will be used for the construction of 130 kilometers of water supply networks, 2.5 kilometers of sewerage networks and 9 new water structures. As a result, 34 thousand residents of the region will be provided with a centralized drinking water supply for the first time, and another 25 thousand people will be connected to the sewer system.

Work on the reconstruction of the sewerage system in Namangan will begin this year and will be based on public-private partnership mechanisms.

To develop public transport, 90 buses, 50 electric buses and 30 minibuses have been ordered to be purchased by September 1, and an additional 105 electric buses by July 1.

The primary health care model is planned to be introduced in Kasansay and Uychin districts. Starting from October, the national program to combat heart attack and stroke will be launched in Namangan, Andijan and Fergana regions.

It is also planned to reconstruct 75 km of the Pungan - Namangan highway - it will become a four-lane highway with a concrete surface, and the construction of 21 bridges and 22 pedestrian crossings.

Reconstruction of the Pungan - Namangan roadwas plannedsince 2013, but was suspended in 2016; in March 2024, the project was approved by the president. The project was going to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2025, but in September 2025becameOnly the start of work is known. The planned speed on the highway will be 120 km/h. The $246 million project is being implemented by the Chinese CITIC Construction.
