84% of German businesspersons gives positive assessment to development of business climate in Uzbekistan

The Eastern Committee of the German Economy and the Representative Office of the German Economy in Central Asia have conducted a survey among representatives of German companies in Uzbekistan for the first time in 2018.

The following are the results of the survey:

- 84% of respondents are quite positive about further development of the business climate in the country,

- 66% of respondents noted a significant increase in business activity and improvement of the economic environment since the beginning of 2017.

- 66% respondents rated development of their own business in Uzbekistan in 2017 as “good” or “very good”.

The survey has also revealed that German representatives note the potential impact of Chinese businessmen on the business environment in Uzbekistan within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative. They shared their views on the expected events in the financial and economic sphere.

According to the survey, the following was determined:

- Annual turnover of German companies increased by 35% in 2017;

- 57% of turnover has not changed,

- 8% decrease of turnover was observed.

Today, 132 Uzbek-German companies, including 27 ones with 100% foreign capital, operate in the country.
